Monroe 2020: A Bright Idea for a Bright Future
Gallagher & Gallagher Draws Industry and Gubernatorial Acclaim with Multi-Layered Marketing Strategy
Challenge
Monroe 2020 is a complex strategic and tactical program designed to generate a plan that manages the growing population, rising taxes, and poor land use practices of Monroe County. To be successful, the effort calls for an across-the-board community partnership of county citizens, civic, business, education, environmental, and political leaders from 20 municipalities and four school districts across the county.
Solution
Gallagher & Gallagher developed and implemented the public education campaign for Monroe 2020, recruiting citizens from all walks of life who have concern for quality of life in the county. This was a multi-layered educational, marketing, media, and public information assignment that included surveys, speakerís bureau, workshops, public meeting presentations, television, radio, and newspaper advertisements, brochure design, newsletters, event coordination, media and public relations, and the Monroe 2020 Web site.
Concepts have included public events including the signing of the "Monroe 2020 Magna Carta" which residents signed in support of Monroe 2020, open space programs, and economic summits. All programs have been introduced with great attendance and media coverage and most importantly with successful implementation.
The program has been extremely successful. Not only has it earned the firm a Public Relations Society of America Award for overall excellence, but it has also received recognition from former PA Governor Tom Ridge as a model program for the state. Most importantly, this comprehensive strategic and tactical plan brought together twenty municipalities, environmental, economic, and the public sector with one common vision.
